Job Title: Communications Manager

Location: Warton/Samlesbury, Hybrid – minimum of 3 days per week on site

Salary: £65,498

The role will report to the Head of Communications (Air Operations) and work closely with a range of stakeholders at all levels to lead, support and co-ordinate the delivery of internal communications activities for our Engineering, Typhoon Capabilities and Design, Development, Test & Evaluation (DDT&E) teams.

Core duties:

  • Plan, develop and deliver strategic and tactical internal communications activities aligned to business goals
  • Create engaging content that supports key communications priorities for Air Operation
  • Build and manage effective stakeholder relationships within the role and across the wider business
  • Design communications briefings and engagement events aligned to agreed communications plans
  • Provide communications guidance and support to stakeholders to help engage and inspire their teams
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of communications activity across the Air Operations team
  • Work collaboratively with teams including Business Development, Creative Media and specific project teams to identify opportunities to share engaging stories with employees

Essential Skills:

  • Significant experience working in internal communications roles within large, complex organisations
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver integrated communications plans for a range of audiences
  • High quality content creation skills across a range of internal communications channels
  • Confident in providing communications guidance and support to senior leaders and employees
  • Competent in managing multiple projects concurrently and adapting swiftly to changing priorities
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels

The team:

You’ll be part of the 40-strong Air Sector Communications Team working alongside colleagues with expertise in internal communications, external and media relations, events management and creative production. It’s a fast-moving environment with plenty of variety. This role specifically supports Air Operations which is the largest business area within the Air Sector. Colleagues in Air Operations work across teams supporting our Typhoon aircraft and our US Programmes activities along with specialisms including Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering and Support & Services. The work we do in Air Operations helps protect nations, supports global security and connects the parts of our business that can bring the greatest value for our customers.
