Job Description

As External Communications Lead, you will play a critical role in promoting and protecting Greene King’s reputation. Leading our corporate communications strategy, reactive press office and external PR activity, you’ll ensure Greene King is positioned as a leading business both within and beyond the hospitality sector. Working closely with senior leaders, including the Executive Board and Leadership Group, you’ll provide expert communications counsel, navigate complex reputational challenges and drive a joined-up approach to external communications across the business.

Qualifications

As an External Communications Lead, you will…

  • Develop and deliver Greene King’s corporate communications strategy across key areas including business performance, sustainability, social mobility, employer brand, community impact and charity partnerships.
  • Lead and oversee our 24/7 reactive press office, ensuring robust processes, governance and responses that protect Greene King’s reputation.
  • Develop and manage crisis communications strategies, providing expert advice and media handling during high-profile or sensitive situations.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Board and Leadership Group, to provide communications guidance and support when representing Greene King externally.
  • Manage external agencies and oversee divisional PR activity, ensuring a cohesive, integrated approach to communications across the business.

What you'll bring…

  • Significant experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations, with a strong track record of delivering impactful communications strategies.
  • Strong media relations expertise and experience managing high-profile press office activity.
  • Proven crisis communications experience, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage reputational risk effectively.
  • Experience supporting complex business change programmes and communicating with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent influencing, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise senior leaders and executives.
