Supports the design, implementation, distribution and evaluation of the organisation's communications cross-platform strategy. Executes internal and external communication strategies and tactics that improve employee engagement, strengthen the organisation's brand, broaden awareness of its projects and priorities, and increase understanding of the impact of its work across key stakeholder audiences.
Provides communication recommendations and channel insights to support business objectives and improve communication effectiveness across internal and digital communication platforms.

Content Creation

  • Collate and summarise information for use in developing content and write first drafts of content for multiple channels like townhall presentations, scripts, employee communications, digital and online channels.

  • Adapt content for different channels and audiences, including email, WhatsApp, intranet and social platforms.

  • Recommend content improvements by analysing key metrics to increase engagement and conversions.

Public/Government Relations Campaign Execution

  • Deliver specified outcomes and provide others with expert advice while working within established public relations, government relations, regulation and registration programmes.

  • Contribute communication recommendations during campaign planning and implementation.

  • Monitor campaign performance and provide optimisation recommendations based on audience engagement and feedback.

  • Ensure all campaigns have clearly defined success measures and tracking mechanisms in place, monitoring performance against objectives to demonstrate business value and optimise results.

Brand Integrity

  • Ensure the application of brand guidelines and brand templates and inform the organisation on the importance of brand alignment and positioning.

  • Ensure consistency of messaging and visual identity across digital communication channels.

Internal Communications

  • Help others get the most out of internal communication systems by offering support and advice.

  • Support the implementation and management of internal communication channels including but not limited to: WhatsApp, digital CRM platforms (both internal and external), and emerging digital channels.

  • Provide channel recommendations based on audience needs and communication objectives.

  • Implement channel optimisation for audience reach linked to communication objectives.

  • Monitor the MFC Communications mailbox, ensuring requests are actioned, prioritised, assigned appropriately and responded to within agreed service levels.

External Communications

  • The External Communications responsibilities builds on the requirements and competencies outlined for Internal Communications. The applicant is expected to perform both Internal and External Communications functions, with additional responsibility for social media, corporate, executive, customer, and stakeholder communications.

  • Support the external communications lead across a range of projects.

  • Use the external communications system to access and supply specific information.

Document Preparation

  • Organise and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarising data for special reports.

  • Prepare communication reports and dashboards highlighting engagement trends and campaign performance.

  • Use analytics to optimise content.

  • Adapt message design and digital assets for different formats, audiences and channels.

Project Management

  • Support operational teams by carrying out a range of project management activities.

  • Coordinate communication activities, schedules, publishing calendars and campaign timelines.

  • Engage with internal and external service providers to deliver communication deliverables.

  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Delivers work on time and within budget.

Personal Capability Building

  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences and reading specialist media.

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging digital communication trends, technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

  • NQF Level 7 Degree, Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent in: Corporate Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies or Related field.

  • General Experience: 5 years.

  • Managerial Experience: 2 years but not essential.

  • Experience managing digital communication channels including email marketing platforms and enterprise messaging channels.

  • Experience creating communication layouts and publishing digital content.
