The Marketing and Communications team is responsible for promoting WoodGreen’s brand, programs and services through strategic messaging, media relations, and targeted digital, social, print and in-person campaigns. We manage internal and external communications, develop marketing materials, and ensure consistent brand representation across all our various programs and services.

Communications Assistants are responsible to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications. The scope of the role includes managing internal and external communications, overseeing media relations, and delivering multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, print, and in-person platforms. The team ensures consistent brand representation and messaging while supporting program visibility and community engagement.

What You Will Do
  • Support with end-to-end delivery of marketing initiatives, including social media, website, print, in-person and other as identified.
  • Assist in developing marketing collateral, including social posts, digital ads, website content, print content, and other as identified.
  • Assist in generating regular reports on marketing statistics and trends, and/or campaign or asset performance.
  • Assist the execution of a media relations strategy, including developing media lists, liaison with media, attending media events and supporting the pick up of WoodGreen content by media.
  • Support content collection, including attending events or visiting sites to capture client, staff or community testimonials and/or photos.
  • Support all administrative marketing functions, including scheduling, note-taking, follow ups, file organization, and activity tracking.
  • Support research, discovery and analysis work where required.

What You Bring to the Team
  • Diploma in Marketing Management, Digital Engagement, Advertising or related field.
  • Experience in customer service or direct service delivery an asset.

  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with sound decision-making skills.
  • High degree of comfort with Microsoft suite of products (PPT, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Experience using web browsers and social media platforms, with graphic design and/or in copy writing an asset.
  • Experience in a matrixed reporting structure.

Must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with Employment and Social Development Canada as outlined:
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

**International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
