Job Description

  • Fixed term contract for 12 months
  • $99,526 per annum plus Superannuation

We’re seeking a Communications Advisor to support the delivery of high-quality communications services across the organisation and help connect our community with Council’s programs, services and initiatives.

As part of the Strategic Communications Department, you will work closely with assigned departments and project teams to provide communications advice, planning and delivery support. You will develop engaging content, coordinate integrated communications activities and build strong stakeholder relationships to help achieve organisational priorities and community outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and implement communications plans, campaigns and activities that support Council projects, programs, services and organisational priorities.
  • Manage communications projects from briefing through to evaluation, ensuring activities are delivered on time and meet stakeholder objectives.
  • Provide communications advice and recommendations on appropriate channels, approaches and messaging.
  • Develop clear, engaging and audience-centred content across a range of channels, including digital, social media, web, internal communications, publications and stakeholder communications.
  • Coordinate integrated communications activities across multiple channels to ensure consistent and effective delivery.
  • Build productive relationships with stakeholders and act as a communications partner for assigned portfolios and projects.
  • Support stakeholders to navigate communications processes, governance requirements and service standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications activities, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify and escalate potential communications and reputational risks, supporting issues management responses where required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of communications systems, processes, templates and service delivery.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience planning and delivering communications activities, campaigns and content across multiple channels.
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear and engaging communications.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Sound judgement and an understanding of reputational and stakeholder considerations.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach, with a commitment to providing high-quality customer-focused service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to audience-centred, accessible and inclusive communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in a communications or related role.
  • Understanding of communications planning, content development and evaluation principles.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing platforms and social media management tools.

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or substantial demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
  • A current driver’s license.
