Branch: Strategic Engagement and Communication

Salary Range: (Band 5) $98,778 - $111,969 per annum plus superannuation

(Remuneration stated is for full-time positions)

Work type: Temporary full-time – up to March 2027

Location: Brisbane CBD (office and work from home days)

Our Branch

Strategic Engagement and Communication is made up of hard-working media and communication specialists in brand, internal communication, campaign strategy, implementation, digital marketing, media and editorial, metrics, corporate affairs, social media and sponsorship. The team works in close partnership with stakeholders and program areas to provide strategic communication advice and coordinate the development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of Council communication campaigns and initiatives.

The Role

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in internal and corporate communication, project management, building relationships with customers and stakeholders, championing brand, managing and monitoring corporate processes and related systems, and have experience writing and creating corporate communication materials.

As an emerging communication professional, you will be driven by the pursuit of high-quality communication strategies, messaging and publications. In your role as Communication Officer, you will support other Corporate Affairs team members and the senior leadership team to shape communication about the wide range of services, programs, and activities that Council delivers, making a significant difference in the organisation and in the Brisbane community.

To be successful you will have attributes that can be applied to a range of corporate affairs functions including internal communication and including:

  • strong written and verbal communication skills, including researching, writing, editing, proofreading and presenting content for diverse audiences
  • experience supporting the development of internal communication strategy and content
  • ability to coordinate and manage own task list, manage competing deadlines and deliver work on time
  • demonstrated ability to apply writing style guidelines, brand standards and editorial best practice
  • experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar to build EDMs/newsletters
  • strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
