Job Description

ROLE OBJECTIVES

The Communications Manager leads all external and internal communications during the pre‑opening phase. This includes content strategy, media management, PR, storytelling, and safeguarding the school’s reputation. The role ensures consistent, polished, parent‑focused messaging across all channels.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications & Content

  • Guarantee consistency in messaging and branding throughout all communication materials.
  • Develop and own the pre‑opening communications strategy and editorial calendar.
  • Generate and curate high‑quality written content for diverse internal communication channels, including social media, academic booklets, newsletters, emails, announcements, and presentations.
  • Craft storytelling that strengthens WCIL’s positioning and supports admissions goals.
  • Be able to turn around impactful content in short period of time.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including department heads, faculty, and parent-teacher associations, to ensure alignment and collaboration in communication efforts.

Media & PR Management

  • Manage relationships with journalists, media outlets, and community partners.
  • Write and distribute press releases and media statements.
  • Prepare leadership for media engagements; provide messaging guidance.
  • Support crisis or sensitive communications with appropriate judgement.

Social Media Management

  • Lead social media content planning, posting, monitoring, and tone of voice.
  • Manage community engagement and escalation issues.

Collaboration & Brand Governance

  • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to ensure visual and editorial consistency.
  • Ensure all communications align with WCIL brand values and messaging standards.

Metrics and Analytics:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts through data-driven reporting and analysis and then apply data-driven adjustments to communications strategies as necessary.
  • Deliver regular reports on key communication metrics to line manager.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 5–7+ years in communications, PR, media relations, or a similar role in house or from within Agency
  • Experience managing multiple native and international social media channels.
  • Experience developing content from concept to storyboard through to release.
  • Experience managing press, crisis comms, or sensitive public messaging.
  • Strong writing, editing and narrative building skills.
  • Strong ability to self-manage multiple information streams and multiple tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace to deliver outcomes.
  • Proactive, confident communicator with mature judgement and discretion.
  • Familiarity with education industry
