You will work closely with Engineering, Purchasing teams to help reduce BOM cost, simplify part numbers, and improve development efficiency. This position provides strong exposure to vehicle architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and cost engineering practices within automotive product development
Key Responsibilities
Analyze vehicle
BOM structures, cost data, and part numbering systems
to identify commodification opportunities across platforms.
Support comparative studies between vehicle variants to detect duplication and consolidation potential.
Develop, maintain, and update dashboards tracking
part commonality KPIs and metrics
.
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with engineering domains (BIW, Interior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, etc.) to assess technical feasibility of standardization.
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentation materials to support commonality proposals and decision reviews.
Participate in design reviews to understand functional, performance, and regulatory requirements of evaluated components.
Assist senior engineers in validating compliance of proposed common parts with performance, integration, and application constraints.
Coordinate with Purchasing to gather supplier quotations, tooling investments, and detailed cost breakdowns.
Support cost bench-marking, comparison analysis, and savings estimation for part commodification initiatives.
Monitor project timelines and key performance indicators related to part standardization and cost optimization.
Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and alignment with program milestones.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field
.
1–3 years of experience in
automotive product development
, with proven experience in a
design & release role
at an OEM or Tier-1 supplier.
Basic understanding of the
vehicle development lifecycle
(Concept to SOP).
Familiarity with
BOM structures
and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter or equivalent).
Working knowledge of
CAD tools
(e.g., CATIA, NX) for design review and engineering evaluation.
Strong analytical capability with advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
.
Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
