Job Description

The Commodity Specialist will be responsible for sourcing excellence and cost reduction opportunities with a strategic mindset and approach. They will have high visibility and growth potential in Procurement role working on global commodities with key stakeholders including those at the highest levels in the company.

General Responsibilities
• Develops schedules and manages orderly flow of projects from initial scoping and development to delivery and production of final assets
• Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals
• Assists in developing project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members
• Assists in developing detailed project plans including resource allocation, progress tracking, monitoring change control process, testing, documentation, training and on-time delivery within budget constraints
• Track and update changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
• Regularly communicates and presents project schedules, statuses, and updates to various team members and bringing solutions/opportunities
• Report and escalate to management as needed
• Assists in performing risk management to minimize project risks

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for source selection and development in support of commodity strategies on Metal.
• Work with Strategic Sourcing team to deploy supply base/commodity strategies and take lead on Global Commodity Business Plan.
• Development and utilization of analytical tools to deliver best in Class pricing (Cost Models, Benchmarking, Market intelligence)
• Management of Annual/multi-year pricing agreements
• Manage relationships and develop strategy with suppliers and internal customers around supply, quality, and parts launches, resourcing and capacity planning.
• Monitoring of quality/supply/financial health of supply base including follow-up on further development and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk.
• Drive material related cost reduction programs working with local site, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement PMO and Business Center teams to achieve cost reduction target annually
• Manage and drive annual cost reduction with Non-Strategic Suppliers

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree or above.
• Purchasing experience in related areas with at least 5 years.
• Expertise in cost engineering.
• strong knowledge on Annual, Quarterly and Monthly Procurement Cost Reduction and BCS Plan Development.
• Good capabilities in driving Sensata Material Cost Reduction and BCS Productivity to meet Annual Plan, Quarterly Update and Monthly target.
• Good knowledge of supplier selecting and development procedures and understanding of Quality operating systems.
• Strong planning and organization skills, ability to multi-task, Self-directed and driven for success. Ability to effectively communicate internally and externally.
• Understand the basic finance tools used in company.
• Strong focus on driving continuous improvement.
• Good communications, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
• Team player with ‘can do’ attitude.
• Good English language ability in reading, writing and speaking.
• Familiar in machining processes including, CNC machining, die-casting, forging; surface roughness, heat treatment, anodizing, electroplating and spraying post-treatment.

Able to read mechanical parts drawings, capable of judging processing difficulty, cost and scrap risk quickly
