Job Description

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the Traction Transformer and Auxiliary Converter Buyer based in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine (93) that we are looking for?

Your future role

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with cross-functional teams such as project, bid, and platform teams, and you will manage relationships with a global panel of suppliers. You will also be responsible for ensuring QCDT performance (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Technology) and coordinating sourcing activities with our local teams.

You will primarily be responsible for managing supplier negotiations and performance follow-up, as well as implementing commodity strategies and supporting projects worldwide.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Preparing and launching Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers
  • Leading project negotiations from RFQ to supplier award, purchase order, and contract finalization
  • Ensuring project execution in line with QCDT objectives (product development, pre-bid agreements, business awards, first article inspection, delivery requirements)
  • Driving negotiations during tender phases to secure the best commitments for the company
  • Leading Planning & Savings reviews based on project/bid priorities
  • Supporting and deploying the commodity strategy for traction transformers and auxiliary converters
  • Managing relationships with a global panel of suppliers, including negotiations, specific agreements, and performance monitoring
  • Supporting projects and site buyers worldwide
  • Coordinating sourcing activities with local and cross-functional teams
  • Facilitating teamwork to efficiently resolve project- and supplier-related issues

Your profile

We value passion and mindset over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve identified some that we believe will help you succeed and thrive in this role:

  • Degree in Procurement or Engineering, with at least 3 years of experience
  • Experience or understanding of strategic sourcing processes and supplier management
  • Knowledge of QCDT principles
  • Proficiency in procurement tools (ARIBA, SAP) and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Familiarity with project management and contract negotiations
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Analytical mindset and ability to solve complex problems

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63 countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
