Job Description

As a Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for executing sourcing strategies, managing supplier performance, and supporting cost reduction initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to ensure competitive pricing, supply stability, and alignment with programme objectives.

1. Sourcing & Program Delivery

  • Execute sourcing and negotiation strategies for tooling and component pricing
  • Support programme targets related to cost, quality, and delivery
  • Monitor and track supplier performance against programme goals

2. Cost Optimisation

  • Drive year-on-year cost reduction initiatives
  • Analyse cost drivers and support competitive pricing decisions
  • Lead supplier negotiations and identify value engineering opportunities

3. Supplier Management

  • Develop and manage supplier relationships across regions
  • Identify supplier risks and implement mitigation plans
  • Support supplier localisation initiatives to meet regulatory and cost goals

4. Strategy Support

  • Contribute to commodity sourcing strategies for regional and global programmes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, operations)
  • Support alignment with broader supply chain and purchasing strategies

5. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Participate in supplier meetings and internal reviews
  • Work closely with engineering, finance, and manufacturing teams

Ensure timely execution and delivery commitments

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
  • MBA preferred but not mandatory

Experience

  • 3–7 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain
  • Automotive industry experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost structures
  • Understanding of financial basics (e.g., cost breakdowns, P&L fundamentals)
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
