Job Description

INTECH Process Automation is seeking a Seasoned Commissioning Technician (Instrument) to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team. The selected candidate will be Responsible for instrument pre-commissioning, commissioning, calibration, loop checking, functional testing, and punch-list rectification in accordance with approved procedures. Ensure accurate test results, proper defect reporting, and safe system readiness for handover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform instrument pre-commissioning and commissioning activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Conduct calibration, continuity checks, loop checks, and signal verification.
  • Configure and test field instruments, smart devices, and instrument interfaces.
  • Perform functional, Cause & Effect, alarm, interlock, and shutdown tests under Engineer supervision.
  • Verify instrument signals and functionality through DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PLC, and ICSS interfaces.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify commissioning defects and punch-list items.
  • Support energization, isolation, reinstatement, startup, and controlled return to service.
  • Maintain and verify test equipment, calibration standards, tools, and commissioning consumables.
  • Complete test sheets, calibration records, checklists, punch lists, and commissioning documentation.
  • Report abnormal conditions, failed tests, defects, and unresolved issues to the Commissioning Engineer.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Instrumentation, ICSS, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, HSE, and vendors.
  • Comply with PTW, LOTO, HSE, process safety, quality, and commissioning requirements.

Requirements

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must Have:

  • Technical Diploma, ITI, or relevant trade certificate; task-specific competency certification where required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Oil & Gas or comparable industrial facilities, including at least 3 years as an Instrument Commissioning Technician.
  • Hands-on experience in instrument calibration, continuity testing, loop checks, and functional testing.
  • Experience with smart instruments, device configuration, signal verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of DCS, SIS/ESD, F&G, PLC, and ICSS interfaces.
  • Experience with Cause & Effect, alarms, interlocks, shutdown, and functional tests.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, cable schedules, and commissioning procedures.
  • Experience in punch-list clearance, defect rectification, and commissioning documentation.
  • Competent in using calibration equipment, test instruments, and commissioning tools.
  • Good coordination and communication with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors.
  • Knowledge of PTW/LOTO, HSE, process safety, and quality requirements.
