Job Description

Commissioning Engineer / Site Supervisor (Contract)

Overview

Kanadevia Inova is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer / Site Supervisor to support the final stages of our Riverside II Energy from Waste project in Belvedere, London.

This is a dual role combining both Commissioning Engineer and Site Supervisor responsibilities, with the successful candidate working across both areas depending on project requirements.

As an end-of-project role, the position will have a strong focus on driving the project through to successful completion. This will include closing outstanding snags and works, coordinating contractors and subcontractors, resolving technical issues, completing remaining commissioning activities, and ensuring documentation and handover requirements are successfully closed out.

Working as part of the wider site and commissioning team, you will help ensure all remaining activities are completed safely and in accordance with design requirements, project specifications, contractual obligations, programme requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate commissioning activities within your assigned system scope, ensuring design requirements, contractual obligations and project specifications are achieved.
  • Provide effective site supervision alongside commissioning responsibilities, coordinating contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders across construction, installation and commissioning activities.
  • Drive the close-out of outstanding works and snag items during the final stages of the project, working with contractors, commissioning, engineering and site teams to ensure actions are progressed through to completion.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to HSEQ, ensuring activities are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant requirements, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
  • Monitor site and commissioning progress, identify deviations, risks and technical issues, and coordinate with the relevant teams to drive effective and timely resolution.
  • Coordinate contractors and subcontractors on site, ensuring outstanding works within the assigned area are completed in line with project requirements.
  • Support installation testing procedures and ensure contractor punch-list items are followed through to closure.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers and project stakeholders on commissioning and operational matters, as required.
  • Ensure commissioning, QA/QC, turnover and handover documentation is prepared and completed to support final project close-out.
  • Support the management of deviations, change requests and technical issues relating to scope, programme and costs.
  • Capture lessons learned and provide feedback to engineering and project teams to support continuous improvement.

Please note that this posting reflects the main responsibilities of the position and is not an exhaustive list of duties. Additional responsibilities and expectations may be discussed during the recruitment process.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification, with an engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification preferred.
  • Experience working as a Commissioning Engineer and/or Site Supervisor on large-scale industrial plant projects.
  • Experience supporting complex construction and commissioning projects, with Energy from Waste or Kanadevia Inova project experience considered advantageous.
  • Experience working during the final stages of a project, including snagging, close-out, completion and handover activities.
  • Strong understanding of thermal plant processes, including Energy from Waste, biomass, coal or oil-fired plant environments.

  • Strong understanding of HSEQ requirements and experience supporting safe site execution, including RAMS.
  • Knowledge of relevant technical standards, plant function plans, P&IDs and DCS systems.
  • Relevant site safety qualification such as SMSTS, SSSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH, SCC or equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary site team.
  • Fluent English, with additional languages considered advantageous.
