The Opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, our purpose is advancing a sustainable energy future for all. We are looking for a dedicated Commissioning Engineer to join our Grid Integration team based in Rotterdam or Zaventem. In this field-based role, you will lead the final and most critical phase of engineering projects—bringing complex systems safely and successfully to life.

You will play a key role from pre-commissioning to client handover, ensuring compliance, quality, and performance. This position offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise in high-voltage environments, collaborate with global teams, and contribute to the energy transition in a hands-on way.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plan and execute commissioning schedules, manuals, and test procedures.

  • Deliver quality results on time and within budget, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement.

  • Produce documentation and reports that meet client and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with customers, third-party providers, and government agencies to secure approvals and sign-offs.

  • Conduct risk assessments and safety tours; implement mitigation strategies.

  • Mentor engineers, technicians, and support staff during commissioning activities.

  • Support proposal development, technical sales, and contract scope assessments.

  • Coordinate supply chain for commissioning tools and services.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commissioning engineering within industrial or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, quality standards, and project documentation.

  • Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills.

  • Leadership ability and a proactive mindset.

  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region and occasionally abroad.
