Our client is currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join their team, working across various water and wastewater projects throughout the Leinster region. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of infrastructure projects within one of Ireland’s leading civil and utilities contractors. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, programming, and optimising control systems to ensure the smooth operation of critical water and wastewater assets. The preferred candidate will have strong technical experience in automation, instrumentation, and control systems, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Provide maintenance, fault-finding, and repair support for PLC, SCADA, and telemetry systems across multiple project sites.
Carry out routine inspections and calibrations of control and instrumentation equipment.
Support commissioning activities for new installations and upgrades on water and wastewater projects.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimise system performance
and minimise downtime.
Assist in the integration of new automation systems and ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.
Document and maintain accurate records of control system configurations and maintenance activities.
Respond promptly to breakdowns or faults, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental procedures during all works.
Participate in on-call and emergency response duties as required.
Requirements:
Trade qualification or relevant third-level certificate/degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with PLCs, SCADA, or control systems within water, wastewater, or process industries.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and instrumentation calibration.
Experience with control panel fault finding, system integration, and maintenance.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full clean driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites across Leinster.
