Job Description

PSD Energy is seeking a highly capable Senior SCADA Engineer to support the delivery of major renewable energy and infrastructure projects across Australia.

This role will see you leading the design, integration, and commissioning of SCADA systems across solar farms, BESS, substations, and transmission infrastructure. You will play a critical role in ensuring reliable, high-performance control and monitoring systems across our EPC projects.

Working closely with commissioning teams, engineers, and project stakeholders, you will drive outcomes from design through to energisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of SCADA systems for renewable and substation projects
• Develop SCADA architectures, communication networks, and control system interfaces
• Configure and integrate RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms
• Manage communications protocols (DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC, etc.)
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning
• Interface with clients, OEMs, and network service providers
• Ensure compliance with Australian standards and utility requirements
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system integration issues
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in SCADA engineering within energy, utilities, or infrastructure
• Strong experience with substation SCADA systems (essential)
• Exposure to solar and/or BESS projects (highly advantageous)
• Proven experience with RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA platforms (e.g. Schneider, Siemens, GE, ABB)
• Solid understanding of IEC 61850 and industrial communication protocols
• Experience in commissioning and live site environments
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and control system designs
• Strong problem-solving capability and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
