Examples of duties

This position supports technical inspections that ensure the safe operation and installation of boilers, pressure vessels, and related fuel systems. As a Commissioned Boiler Inspector Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

• Technical Inspections: Inspect boilers, pressure vessels, and fuel installations for defects, corrosion, or unsafe conditions
• Safety Testing: Conduct checks of valves, attachments, water supply systems, and pressure levels to ensure safe operation
• Compliance Verification: Review installation work to confirm adherence to approved plans, laws, and regulations
• Reporting Findings: Prepare detailed inspection reports and identify unsafe conditions or violations
• Follow-Up Checks: Perform additional inspections to verify correction of deficiencies and compliance with regulations
• Accident Investigation: Examine reported accidents involving boilers, pressure vessels, and fuel systems

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in the design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, or repair of boilers, unfired pressure vessels, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires employees to obtain, within the probationary period, a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission.
• This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

• You must live in or be willing to relocate to Philadelphia, Delaware, or Montgomery County by date of hire.
