Strahan is a small town and working port that serves as the gateway to the stunning UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Located approximately 4.5 hours from Hobart or Launceston, Strahan Village (part of NRMA Tasmania) is located in the heart of Strahan and offers an abundance of character and unique stories of the area’s pioneering history. With 132 guest rooms, 4 food and beverage outlets and the award winning Gordon River Cruises experience, this unique destination offers every opportunity to fall in love with the charm and beauty of Tasmania’s west coast.

What you’ll do:

Bring your passion for hospitality to Tasmania’s stunning west coast at Strahan Village, home to three unique dining experiences: View 42° Restaurant, Hamers Bar & Bistro, and The Kitchen Here, we create memorable moments for guests exploring one of Australia’s most spectacular wilderness regions. In this full-time role, you’ll work across our venues, delivering exceptional service and culinary excellence with a resilient, can-do attitude. On a daily basis you will:

  • Under the direction of the Senior Chef on shift undertake cooking, baking, pastry cooking or butchering duties, as required​ to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist with maintaining the general cleanliness of the kitchen area and equipment.
  • Support the training of Kitchen Attendant staff.

What you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in kitchen operations.
  • A genuine passion for your craft, with the ability to create and present contemporary dishes that showcase the best of local produce.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a team and engage with colleagues.
  • Formal qualifications in commercial cookery.
  • The resilience and efficiency to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, managing a high volume of covers with precision and quality.
  • DoFoodSafely certificate of completion.
