Job Description

Conveniently located amongst Sydney’s CBD, Darling Harbour, Darling Square and ICC precincts at Novotel Sydney Darling Square we are looking for Commis Chef to join our culinary team.

Working alongside our Director of Culinary and Head Chef you will be assisting our culinary team with daily operational aspects of the kitchen and related outlets from buffet breakfast to Pumphouse Bar and restaurant to in room dining and function services.

What will you be doing:

  • Prepare and ensure availability of mis en place as required.
  • Organise an assigned section and ensure it runs efficiently and productively.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment whilst ensuring a product of high quality and presentation standards.
  • Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage.
  • Have stock control procedures implemented and maintained.

Qualifications

If you are adaptable and like working in a busy high-volume Kitchen then this is the team for you.

What we are looking for:

  • You will have commercial cookery qualification Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
  • You will work well in a team environment as well as autonomously.
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with strong communication skills.
