As the Commercial Underwriter, you will identify, assess, and manage complex exposures through the underwriting and pricing of coverage, ensuring premium and coverage commensurate with the risk. You will deliver timely and accurate service to the credit union system for all renewals, mid-term servicing, and other technical issues. The requests for information, presentations, and renewals are customized to satisfy the unique needs of each client.

How you will create impact:

  • Underwriting, pricing, communicating all policies, proposals, and risk management strategies through the collection and analysis of a variety of data, including proposals, applications, physical risk inspections, building appraisals, loss history, financial information, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Negotiating facultative and subscription placements as required.
  • Recommending policy, rate, and process enhancements.
  • Providing input into the development of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
  • Providing technical support to internal and external staff and customers.
  • Recommending systems and enhancing related procedures and tools using various software.
  • Creating and running queries and assisting with system testing.
  • Performing daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting functions.

To join our team:

  • You have five years of Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriting experience.
  • You have completed post-secondary education.
  • You have the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP) designation.

Expected salary range $69,765

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.​​

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
