Job Description

Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicles operated and meet applicable commercial driver qualification requirements.
  • Inspect tires and wheels before and after service in accordance with established safety and quality procedures.
  • Identify repairable tire conditions and perform approved repairs.
  • Review work orders and communicate job details with supervisors and team members.
  • Accurately document all work performed in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Safely unbolt and re-bolt wheels using hand and power tools.
  • Mount and dismount tires on drop-center, semi-drop-center, and multi-piece rims.
  • Properly match and assemble dual tire configurations.
  • Identify correct tire specifications and inflate tires to proper size, ply, and load requirements.
  • Balance wheels using balancing machines and apply required counterweights.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects from tires.
  • Safely move vehicles in and out of the shop and customer locations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of machines, tools, and equipment used in tire service, including proper use, maintenance, and repair.
  • Equipment Operation & Control: Ability to operate shop equipment and tools safely and effectively.
  • Active Listening: Ability to understand instructions, ask clarifying questions, and communicate effectively.
  • Operation Monitoring: Ability to observe equipment and identify potential issues or malfunctions.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage time efficiently and complete tasks within expected timeframes.
  • Physical Abilities:
    • Flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
    • Strength to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
  • Tool Proficiency: Ability to recognize and properly use hand tools, pneumatic tools, machine tools, jacks, hoists, and related equipment.
  • Vehicle & Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles as required.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze situations, make sound decisions, and resolve issues efficiently.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, and loud noise levels. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with regular exposure to heat and cold. The role frequently involves working with dirty or greasy parts and in awkward positions.

The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with assistance or equipment as appropriate. Minor workplace injuries may occur; however, adherence to established safety practices significantly reduces the risk of serious injury.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent and/or related experience is preferred but not required.
