Job Description

We are looking for a commercially driven and technically proficient Commercial & Technical Manager East Asia to expand our structural steel business while developing profitable opportunities in ferrous and non-ferrous scrap trading. Based in Singapore, this role offers a unique combination of technical consulting, value engineering, project sales, and international trading.

Your Mission

As Commercial & Technical Manager, you will drive growth in structual steel sales while creating value for customers through innovative engineering solutions and effective scrap trading strategies. You will work closely with developers, contractors, fabricators, and industrial partners throughout East Asia to deliver commercial success and sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities Structural Steel Sales & Value Engineering (60%)
  • Identify, develop, tender, and secure new structural steel projects including beams, columns, and plates.
  • Partner with developers, main contractors, consultants, and fabricators across East Asia.
  • Analyze structural designs and propose optimized steel solutions through Value Engineering initiatives that reduce overall project costs.
  • Provide technical consulting on fabrication, erection, and construction methodologies to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead the preparation of commercial offers, estimates, tenders, and technical proposals in compliance with local standards and regulations.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key industry stakeholders.
Scrap Trading & Business Development (40%)
  • Source ferrous and non-ferrous scrap from industrial generators, demolition companies, and scrap dealers.
  • Develop and execute profitable trading strategies for scrap materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, quality specifications, commercial terms, and delivery conditions.
  • Coordinate logistics, transportation, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Monitor regional and global scrap market developments, pricing trends, and demand dynamics to identify new business opportunities.
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Metallurgy, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel sales, commercial management, or a related construction sector role.
  • Demonstrated success in Value Engineering for structural steel applications.
  • Strong network and experience within the ferrous and non-ferrous scrap industry.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong technical understanding of steel grades, structural design, fabrication, and construction processes.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and structural analysis software is an advantage.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with experience in contract negotiation and commercial law.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities.
