Job Description

Alpiq’s Strategy is centered around the accelerated growth of our Origination activities to complement the revenue streams from our asset portfolio. Over the next few years, the business is set to achieve significant expansion, around Origination structures extracting value from flexibility in the power markets. We plan to build a deal portfolio skewed towards high risk/high reward opportunities, embracing complexity and long-term exposures as required.
In this context, the Commercial & Strategy Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the strategy work to identify the market opportunities and support the buildup of the right skillset and capability to deliver our ambitious growth agenda. As we scale our PPA, BESS and flexibility platform, we are nurturing a next generation of commercial talent to help shape strategy, originate transactions, and grow with the business.

The Commercial & Strategy Coordinator is a high-impact role designed for a top-tier, high-potential individual early in their career. The role combines hands-on running business processes with exposure to strategic development, capability building, and business scaling.
You will work closely with senior commercial leaders and the trading desk to help define where and how the business plays in BESS and PPA markets, gaining insight and exposure to originating and executing commercial structures with developers and asset owners.

Main accountabilities

Strategy Development & Market Design

  • Support the Cluster Head in defining the regional commercial and origination strategy, with a focus on BESS and flexibility
  • Coordinate cross team work to characterize the Origination market opportunity across Italy, Spain, and new markets
  • Translate high-level strategic priorities into concrete initiatives, targets, and execution plans
  • Analyse market design, regulation, and revenue-stack evolution to identify scalable opportunities – potentially coordinating inputs from external consultants
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives such as market entry assessments, product design, and portfolio strategy
  • Prepare strategy papers, market deep-dives, and commercial recommendations for senior management

Origination Performance Tracking & Analytics

  • Develop and maintain origination performance tracking across markets, products, and counterparties
  • Monitor pipeline development (deal hopper), conversion rates, and value creation versus strategic targets – and support socialization with supporting functions
  • Build dashboards and internal reporting to support decision-making and resource allocation; including running OKR process
  • Identify and address gaps, bottlenecks, and best practices in the origination process

Capability Building & Process Development

  • Support the development of scalable origination processes, tools, and governance frameworks
  • Contribute to the design and standardisation of commercial structures, assumptions, and templates
  • Help define capability requirements across origination, trading interface, and commercial analysis
  • Support onboarding and upskilling of new team members as the regional platform grows

Management & Stakeholder Support

  • Act as a right-hand support to the Cluster Head on planning, prioritisation, and follow-up
  • Prepare internal materials, presentations, and analysis for senior management and group stakeholders
  • Support coordination across regional and central teams to ensure strategic alignment

Your profile

This role is aimed at exceptional, high-potential individuals who combine strong analytical ability with commercial instinct and ambition.

  • Ability to structure ideas clearly and communicate them confidently
  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and external counterparties
