Our North Carolina service team provides ongoing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation services for commercial facilities throughout the region.



The Commercial Service Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing electrical systems in commercial facilities. This role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently in occupied buildings, and professionalism when interacting with customers.

Service electricians represent Sylvester & Cockrum in the field and play a critical role in delivering reliable electrical solutions to commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

Service & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose electrical issues in commercial systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and equipment connections.
• Troubleshoot electrical failures and implement effective repair solutions.
• Respond to service calls for electrical problems in commercial facilities.

Installation & Repairs

• Install and repair electrical systems including panels, breakers, wiring, lighting systems, and electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical upgrades, retrofits, and small installation projects in existing buildings.
• Ensure installations meet electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

Customer Service

• Communicate clearly with facility managers, property managers, and clients.
• Explain system issues and recommended repairs.
• Maintain a professional presence while representing Sylvester & Cockrum on client sites.

Documentation & Reporting

• Complete service reports and work orders accurately.
• Document materials used and work completed during service calls.Communicate job updates with supervisors and service coordinators.

Safety

• Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain safe work practices and identify jobsite hazards.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.

Qualifications

Required

• 5+ years of commercial electrical experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for commercial electrical systems.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety practices, and installation standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred

• North Carolina Electrical License (Journeyman or equivalent).
• Experience working in commercial facilities such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, or institutional environments.
• Experience with lighting controls, panel upgrades, or electrical service work.
