Senior Commercial Roofing Edge Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Roofing Edge Estimator to lead our estimating department in Branford, CT. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing all estimating activities for our production and re-roof divisions, ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and profitable while driving consistency and best practices across the department.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial roofing estimator with extensive experience using The Edge Estimating Software, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing complex commercial roofing bids. This individual will work closely with executive leadership, project management, operations, vendors, and customers to help drive company growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Department Management

• Lead and oversee the daily operations of the estimating department.
• Mentor, train, and develop estimating team members.
• Establish estimating standards, processes, and best practices.
• Review estimates for accuracy, completeness, and profitability before submission.
• Manage estimating workload, priorities, and bid schedules.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic bidding opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement within the estimating department.

Estimating Responsibilities

• Prepare complete commercial roofing estimates using The Edge software.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
• Estimate production and re-roof commercial roofing projects.
• Review plans, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Prepare professional proposals, bid packages, and value engineering options.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and project site visits as needed.
• Coordinate seamless project handoffs to operations and project management.
• Maintain organized bid documentation and estimating records.
• Track bid success rates and identify opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial roofing estimating experience required.
• Previous experience leading or supervising an estimating team strongly preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency with The Edge Estimating Software
• Extensive experience estimating production and re-roof commercial roofing projects.
• Strong knowledge of:
  • TPO
  • PVC
  • EPDM
  • Modified Bitumen
  • Built-Up Roofing (BUR)
  • Metal Roofing (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Strong financial, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and team priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience overseeing an estimating department for a commercial roofing contractor.
• Knowledge of manufacturer specifications and commercial roofing assemblies.
• Strong understanding of project costs, profitability, and value engineering.
• Ability to build relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
