
The Commercial Production Specialist IV works in the SBA Team and is responsible for performing due diligence, closing, processing, and preliminary and post-closing documentation review of all new SBA loans for the Retail, Business Banking and Commercial Banking teams. This individual is responsible for packaging loans to be submitted to the SBA for guaranty purchase. This individual must be able to provide high quality production while meeting deadlines. This individual must possess a strong working knowledge of SBA documentation and lending process. This individual must have strong communication skills and must work well with internal customers. This individual may also perform, research and resolve internal and external requests in an accurate and timely manner.
Provide support and guidance to members of the Retail, Business Banking and Commercial Banking teams around a variety of SBA items
Performs entity, collateral and compliance due diligence for SBA loans. Ensures that these requests are in compliance with the most recent SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures around SBA lending. Support post-closing review of SBA loans to ensure quality control/compliance reporting activities are being followed, including departmental control testing/reporting
Process incoming SBA loan requests. Input etran entries to match approvals, make sure the loan structure, documentation and paperwork all meet the SBA SOP requirements. Submit loans to SBA for general processing when required
Review scored loans and clear SBA compliance and/or validation errors. Proactively work with the scored loans to ensure the system is following SBA SOP requirements IE: Form 1919 completion, determination of credit elsewhere, SBA size standard. Manage the SBA pipeline for the Enterprise for Business (EAB) program to assure it is in compliance with SBA SOP requirements
Monitor and/or draft daily and monthly reports for the SBA department, including but not limited to SBA Form 1502, SBA Form 172, update SBA pipeline, obtain tax transcripts via submission of Form 4506c, report within the required timeframes to ensure SBA compliance
Works with internal partners at Eastern Bank to ensure that all SBA SOP procedures are being followed even if the SBA Team is not directly responsible. This would include the Loan Production Group (LPG), Scored Product Team, Managed Assets, HVT, Default Management and the Credit Teams
Works closely with the Managed Assets and HVT teams and submits loans to the SBA for guaranty purchase, monitors, reports and follows up on guaranty purchase status. Completes monthly reporting for the Business Banking Asset Quality Meeting
Maintains proficiency in any changes/updates to the SBA SOP for assigned areas. Recommends procedural changes to support prescribed requirements. Ensures full compliance with the Bank’s Information Security Policies and Procedures. Drafts processes and procedures on SBA requirements to be used within the bank
Perform related and unrelated duties as needed or assigned by Management. Work on special projects e.g. system upgrades, mergers, FDIC, Internal and External SBA audits and cross train any support staff that needs to know SBA policies and procedures

3-5 years of SBA loan experience required
