Job Description

Our client, a leading civils and utilities contractor, is seeking a Commercial Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will begin work in Tuam, Galway, before moving to a major 3+ year infrastructure project in Charlestown, Mayo. This project involves large-scale civil engineering works, requiring strong commercial oversight and strategic input. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in managing commercial aspects of infrastructure projects, with the ability to lead teams and drive value throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all commercial activities across the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to final account.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and performance.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and risk management procedures.
• Lead cost control initiatives and value engineering processes.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams to ensure commercial alignment.
• Prepare and present monthly commercial reports to senior management.
• Support project delivery teams with contractual and financial guidance.
• Identify opportunities for commercial improvement and implement best practices.

Requirements:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial management role within civils/utilities.
• Strong understanding of Irish construction contracts and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in commercial software and reporting tools.
• Ability to work on-site in Tuam and Charlestown as required.
