Imagine Tomorrow with Us | Ata whakaarohia tō āpōpō
At Fonterra Te Mātāpuna, we want everyone to feel they can be themselves.

Whether you're early in your career or ready for your next step, Fonterra offers a unique opportunity to grow with a global dairy co-operative that values care, collaboration, and contribution.

Owned by New Zealand dairy farmers and supported by a dedicated team, we are all working together to create a better future. Imagine tomorrow with us, where your career can grow, and you can create positive change.

About the Opportunity | Mō tēnei tūranga

Fonterra is one of New Zealand’s largest consumers of energy and has an ambitious plan to transition to more sustainable and secure fuels in the coming years.  Significant investments are underway to transition manufacturing operations from gas and coal to electricity and biomass.  Trials are underway to test electric trucks to reduce diesel consumption.

The Commercial Manager – Energy will work with the Head of Energy Procurement to:

  1. Develop strategies for sourcing energy commodities over the long-term, including electricity, gas, biomass, coal and transport fuels;
  2. Negotiate, execute and manage contracts with energy suppliers;
  3. Manage relationships with energy suppliers and broader energy market participants; and
  4. Provide market insights to inform energy transition and decarbonisation plans and regulatory advocacy.

The Commercial Manager - Energy will be part of Fonterra’s strategic procurement function and will work closely with colleagues in operations, finance and trading to create and protect value for the Co-op.

With energy being one of the Co-op’s most significant costs, at a time when energy markets are navigating a complex transition phase, this role will have a tangible impact on the organisation going forward.
