A little more about your role…

Our Civil business is seeking a Commercial Manager to support commercial activity across the discipline. Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll provide commercial leadership across complex infrastructure programmes for clients including national and regional transport bodies, as well as leading contractors.

Your role will be to embed a strong project culture around commercial excellence, balanced with the need to satisfy client, staff and commercial expectations along with business operational performance. You’ll be highly collaborative, a natural problem solver and well used to tackling the myriad challenges that complex infrastructure projects can present.

You’ll join a close-knit commercial team within Civil, while also connecting into a wider, collaborative team across the Transport and Infrastructure portfolio where knowledge sharing and best practice are actively encouraged. Key Responsibilities

You will work in partnership with Legal, Insurance, Tax, Bid Modelling, Finance, Operations and project teams to provide commercial advice and support across a diverse portfolio of Civil infrastructure projects.

• Supporting sustainable work winning, including input to bids, pricing and commercial strategy
• Reviewing, managing and negotiating contracts throughout the project lifecycle
• Providing commercial support during project delivery, ensuring effective contract management and performance
• Providing risk and commercial advice during bids and delivery to support decision-making and performance
• Ensuring appropriate governance is in place across opportunities and live projects
• Proactively managing change, risk and opportunity to protect and enhance project outcomes
• Ensuring activities align with internal policies and external client requirements
• Contributing to continuous improvement and wider commercial team initiatives

What we would be looking for you to demonstrate…

• Experience in a similar commercial role within infrastructure project environments
• A solid working knowledge of NEC forms of contract (NEC3/4) and contract administration across the project lifecycle
• Good commercial awareness, with the ability to support effective commercial decision-making
• Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams in complex project environments
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders and project teams
• A degree (or equivalent commercial experience) in a relevant discipline; membership of a professional body is welcomed but not essential
