GE Vernova - The Energy to Change the World
With over 130 years of experience and proven innovation, GE Vernova is leading a new era of energy. We are electrifying the world while working to decarbonize it. Our name reflects our mission. “GE” carries a legacy of quality and ingenuity. “Ver” signals Earth’s lush ecosystems, while “Nova” nods to a new era of lower-carbon energy we are helping to deliver.

Focused on the future, GE Vernova is accelerating the shift to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy. We help customers power economies and deliver electricity vital to health, safety, and quality of life.

Electrification

Our Electrification solutions modernize grids, enable renewable integration, and strengthen energy systems. From software to power conversion and storage, we help create smarter, more resilient energy networks.

Let’s Talk about the Role

The Commercial Manager will lead the preparation and submission of competitive, compliant, and commercially sound proposals within our complex project environment.

You will join a collaborative team at the heart of the energy transition, taking ownership of the inquiry-to-order process. You will support the full lifecycle of high-value tenders, from interpreting specifications and building cost models to assessing contractual risks and negotiating terms.

This is a vital role for someone who enjoys the intersection of technical engineering and commercial strategy, providing you with the opportunity to influence major energy projects while developing deep expertise within a supportive and scaling business.

How You Will Make a Difference

  • Leading the preparation and submission of commercial proposals and tenders in line with customer requirements.
  • Building robust cost models and pricing structures through close coordination with engineering, supply chain, and finance teams.
  • Creating thorough commercial and contractual risk assessments to identify and mitigate key exposures early.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to secure business approvals and ensure all proposals are commercially sound.
  • Improving our bid processes by maintaining accurate records and participating in project reviews.
  • Supporting negotiations with customers to secure outcomes that protect our business interests and foster long-term trust.
  • Support the gathering of business approvals, including Export Controls, Tax, Credit Checks, and Cashflow assessments, in coordination with relevant functions.

Skills for Success

You should be a dedicated commercial professional, with:

  • The ability to interpret complex technical and commercial specifications to ensure our proposals are fully aligned with customer needs.
  • The capability to manage multiple high-value bids concurrently with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Proven experience in a commercial, tendering, or bid management role, ideally within an engineering, energy, or industrial sector
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions (e.g., liability, warranties, payment terms, LDs), with the ability to identify and redline key risk clauses.
  • An expertise in financial modeling and Excel-based pricing calculations.
  • A keen interest in negotiation and a proactive approach to solving complex commercial challenges.

A formal education and subsequent University Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field are nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and professional achievements.

Note: Depending on project assignment, you may be required to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, UK Security Clearance (SC level) to support Defence-related contracts.

Where and how you'll work

• This is a permanent position based in our Rugby, UK office.

• We believe in the power of face-to-face connection and collaboration, so this role is based onsite at our Rugby facility.
