Department: - Finance - Praxis Facilities Management

Praxis Facilities Management (PFM), is growing and developing new sources of income, so we need stronger commercial finance support.

We’re looking for a Commercial Management Accountant who will keep a close eye on site budgets, help us understand how contracts and services are performing, and give operational teams clear financial information to support decisions.

You’ll also help put practical finance processes in place as the business grows, working closely with operational teams, contract managers, budget holders and senior management.

  • Show how profitable each site, contract, client and service line is, helping the business make informed pricing and resourcing decisions.
  • Build financial models to help assess commercial options and decisions.
  • Work with operational teams to improve cost recovery, recharges and margin control.
  • Give senior management clear commercial advice and analysis when needed.
  • Take responsibility for PFM’s management accounts, making sure the profit and loss account, balance sheet, cash flow and supporting schedules are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Track site budgets and forecasts, spotting risks, opportunities and changes in performance early.
  • Explain variances by site, contract, service line and income channel, working with operational managers to understand what is driving them.
  • Make sure income is billed accurately and on time, and that charges agree with price schedules, service records and the general ledger.
  • Prepare concise reports for senior management, explaining what the numbers mean and what action may be needed.
  • Help design, document and introduce the finance processes needed for new income streams, contracts and services.
  • Put clear controls and audit trails in place for budgeting, pricing, billing, recharges, purchasing, revenue recognition and reporting.
  • Use Sage Intacct as the main reporting system, keeping data accurate and improving its reporting structure, dimensions and workflows.
  • Find sensible ways to simplify and automate routine finance work without making processes harder for operational teams.
  • Build strong working relationships with PFM’s operational leaders, site teams, contract managers and budget holders.
  • Work as a finance partner to the business, asking the right questions and helping colleagues understand the financial impact of their decisions.
  • Explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues and help them take ownership of their budgets and results.
  • Carry out commercial analysis and project work for the Financial Controller and PFM’s senior management team.

Qualification:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA part/newly qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent senior-level experience.

Commercial finance / FP&A

  • Experience of commercial finance or FP&A, with the ability to analyse performance, build forecasts and turn financial information into practical advice for the business.

Systems

  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems, large data sets and reporting tools, with a practical, forward-looking approach to using AI to improve finance processes and insight.

Management accounting

  • Strong management accounting experience, including responsibility for budgets, forecasts, management accounts, variance analysis and clear reporting to senior management.

Process improvement

  • Experience of putting new finance processes and controls in place and making them work across operational teams.

Communication

  • A clear and confident communicator who can influence senior colleagues, challenge appropriately and explain financial matters in plain English.
  • Experience in facilities management, property services or another contract-based service business.
  • Experience with site budgets, contract accounting, recharges and cost recovery.
  • Experience using Sage Intacct or a similar cloud accounting system.
  • Experience working closely with operational teams and senior management.

This is an opportunity to join a growing business at a point where commercial finance is becoming increasingly important to how we operate and grow.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with operational teams and senior management, provide meaningful commercial insight, and help shape the finance processes and controls that support new income streams and the continued development of the business.
