Our client is a well-regarded London-headquartered international law firm with an established and growing presence in Hong Kong. With a strong commercial disputes practice, the firm acts for a broad range of clients on complex litigation matters across Asia, and offers associates genuine exposure to a wide variety of work within a collegial and entrepreneurial team environment.
Working directly with the partner leading the Hong Kong litigation practice, the successful candidate will handle a broad commercial litigation caseload spanning disputes across financial services, corporate, real estate and general commercial matters. The role will involve drafting pleadings, witness statements and court documents, managing discovery and interlocutory applications, and advising clients at all stages of contentious proceedings in the Hong Kong courts. Candidates with experience in or an appetite to develop skills in trust and estate disputes, as well as international arbitration, will find particular opportunities to do so in this role, though such experience is not a prerequisite.
Applicants should have 5 to 7 years of post-qualification experience in Hong Kong commercial litigation, with strong academic credentials and demonstrated ability to manage files with increasing autonomy. Fluency in spoken Cantonese and Mandarin is essential, as is current admission to practise in Hong Kong. Candidates from offshore jurisdictions will be considered where they hold relevant contentious onshore law firm experience and meet the language and qualification requirements.
