Towne Insurance is hiring a Commercial Lines Claims Coordinator to join our Norfolk or Richmond team. This position is responsible for filing the first notice of loss of commercial lines members via phone or email and report them to the appropriate insurance carrier promptly and accurately. This position serves as a liaison between the member and the insurance company throughout the claims process and ensures the claim moves toward closure as efficiently as possible.

The good-faith compensation range for this role is expected to be $57,000 to $70,000, based on the role, market, internal equity, and candidate qualifications.

About the Role

  • Provide exceptional customer service to our members for multiple lines of business.
  • Expedite the claims process and provide detailed claim notes on all calls.
  • Direct issues with callers to the appropriate escalation paths.
  • Take new client loss reports and submit them to the appropriate carrier.
  • Transmit information/documents to insurance carriers and clients promptly.
  • Obtain claim number and adjuster information and provide it to Towne members.
  • Document claim files and maintain work control through a diary system, keeping accurate records of member/carrier interactions.
  • Keep risk advisors abreast of any large loss claims.
  • Update payments and reserve numbers as necessary.
  • Handle incoming calls from members, claimants, and carriers regarding questions and problems associated with claims.
  • Manage incoming claim mail.
  • Research coverage and coordinate coverage discussions with risk advisors and carriers.
  • Mentor/Work closely with other Commercial Lines Claims Advocates.

Skills and experience you’ll need:

A successful candidate will have prior experience filing claims, maintaining a diary system, and managing claim mail, as well as the following:

  • Working knowledge/proficiency with carrier websites.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PPT, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Two years’ experience as a Commercial Claims Adjuster.
  • Property and Casualty insurance designation(s) such as INS or AIC.
  • Property and Casualty License or ability to obtain it within 30- 60 days of hire.
