Commercial Lead - Governance, Performance & Assurance (Sizewell C)


Location: London

Contract Type: Office-based, with hybrid working flexibility
Working Pattern: Full time

The Opportunity


As Commercial Lead (Governance, Performance & Assurance), you'll manage and develop a team of high performing professionals delivering value to the company and driving efficiency and performance. Provide day to day leadership by setting high performance expectations playing a pivotal role in ensuring the Supply Chain Directorate at Sizewell C operates with clarity, consistency and confidence.


You’ll be responsible for embedding governance, performance and assurance across the project's complex supply chain, helping us deliver a safer, smarter and more sustainable future. From shaping governance frameworks to driving assurance reviews, you'll be at the heart of how we manage commercial risk and performance. Working at the intersection of multiple regulatory bodies – including the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), Environment Agency, and Ofgem – you'll ensure our processes are aligned, effective and future-ready. You'll collaborate with senior leaders, major contract partners and subject matter experts across our supply chain encompassing over 300 UK suppliers.


Key Responsibilities


Overall leadership of the Governance, Performance and Assurance services across the Supply Chain Directorate, including direct line management of staff and people managers.
Develop and maintain processes and toolkits to support the commercial and procurement lifecycle.
The role establishes and maintains relationships between improvement initiatives, governance, strategy and planning functions across the company, aligned to the company vision and Sizewell C's supply Chain.
Overseeing improvements to governance processes, ensuring alignment with Project Controls, PMO Operations, and Project Excellence functions.
Managing the Performance Management Framework with appropriate reporting cadence for multiple stakeholders including Executive Office, Investors, Government, and Ofgem.
Representing the Directorate on governance forums and panels, including inter-regulatory working groups.
Ensuring compliance with Sizewell C's unique regulatory environment, including RAB licence conditions, Ofgem reporting requirements (RIGs - Regulatory Instructions and Guidance), ONR nuclear site licence conditions, and Environment Agency requirements.
Managing baseline training implementation and ensuring project awareness of baseline requirements.
Overseeing requirements management frameworks and traceability systems
Assurance and Reporting.
Developing and implementing data-driven reporting systems, leveraging data platforms to empower decision-makers.


Skills & Experience


We are looking for a Commercial Lead (Governance, Performance & Assurance) who thrives on clarity, collaboration and accountability in complex regulatory environments whose experience includes:


Significant experience in delivering governance, performance and/or assurance activities at a senior level, in highly regulated industries or nuclear environments.
Commercial management experience with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts, ideally including Professional Services Contracts (PSCs) or embedded contractor arrangements.
Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks, with advantage if you have experience with:
Nuclear site licence conditions and ONR requirements.
Regulated Asset Base (RAB) models or similar regulated infrastructure frameworks
Government entities, (e.g. HM Treasury, DESNZ).
Strong knowledge of e-tendering, contract database principles and standard business tools
Proven project management and contract management skills.
Ability to distil complex information into clear, actionable requirements for diverse stakeholder groups.
Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, government entities, economic regulators, and nuclear regulators.
Understanding of supply chain assurance principles and ESG governance requirements.
