We are seeking a Commercial Lawyer with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), based in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have experience advising individuals and businesses on a broad range of commercial and property matters within the Australian jurisdiction.

This role is well-suited to a lawyer who thrives in a client-facing environment and enjoys working across commercial transactions, business structuring, property matters, and general commercial advisory. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong drafting skills, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to manage files independently.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including business sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, loan agreements, and service contracts.
• 
  Advise clients on business structuring, corporate governance, and general commercial transactions.
• 
  Manage business acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence processes.
• 
  Provide legal support on commercial and retail leasing matters, including drafting and reviewing lease agreements.
• 
  Handle property transactions, including contract reviews and advisory work relating to conveyancing matters.
• 
  Advise on regulatory compliance, risk management, and relevant Victorian and Australian legislation.
• 
  Liaise directly with clients to provide practical, solutions-focused legal advice.
• 
  Manage files autonomously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and client service.

Requirements

• 
  Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD) and admission to practice in Australia.
• 
  Minimum 3 years PQE in commercial and/or property law within a reputable Australian law firm.
• 
  Demonstrated experience in business transactions, commercial contract drafting, and leasing matters.
• 
  Strong understanding of Victorian property law and Australian commercial legal frameworks.
• 
  Ability to independently manage matters from instruction through to completion.
• 
  Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• 
  Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
• 
  Experience working with SME clients and high-net-worth individuals is advantageous.
