Salary £60,000 per annum plus 34 days leave rising to 39 with matching pension contributions up to 7% and life insurance of 3x basic salary

What you’ll do

  • Advise colleagues on commercial issues to reduce legal risk.

  • Draft and negotiate contracts that support services, suppliers and partners.

  • Spot legal issues early and give clear recommendations that guide decisions.

  • Build strong relationships so teams come to you before a problem grows.

  • Track transactions and share trends to help improve how we work.

You have

  • Proven experience of handling your own workload and providing sound independent legal advice.

  • Confidence in identifying commercial risks and negotiate commercial contracts independently.

  • Proven experience of supervising or mentoring members of a team, supporting other team members to make decisions.

  • A law degree or are a solicitor or barrister, or equivalent with experience in commercial and/or public sector legal work.

  • Sound knowledge of commercial contract and procurement law.

  • Knowledge and experience of Information Technology contracts could also be beneficial.

  • You have strong communication skills and build trusted relationships.

The practical bits

  • You’ll work Monday to Friday, part-time will also be considered.

  • You’ll manage your own diary.

  • We typically work on a hybrid basis with 2 days per week in our Newcastle office, with the rest from home. Our anchor days in the office are currently Monday and Wednesday.
