About this Role

As a Commercial HVAC Solutions Sales Specialist for Modernizations or Controls, you will be responsible for pursuing large opportunities that help our customers modernize their equipment across plan/spec, design/build, and direct-to-owner projects. This role is ideal for a results-oriented, customer-focused sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at managing large mechanical projects and complex solutions.

Role Location

This role will predominantly be out in the field with customers and based in DC Metro and support customers and growth in the Greater Washington D.C metro territory.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Modernization & Controls Growth: Identify, develop, and close high-value modernization and controls opportunities with both new and existing clients.
• Consultative Selling & Proposal Development: Create high-quality, timely estimates, bids, and proposals (including cost-benefit analyses) linking customer objectives directly to Carrier's value proposition.
• Complex Opportunity & Pipeline Management: Utilize CRM to track activities, manage complex multi-service solution proposals, and accurately forecast pipeline to consistently achieve annual sales targets.
• Relationship & Market Execution: Build credibility as a trusted advisor, adapt selling strategies to customer buying stages, and manage concurrent project workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in Commercial HVAC
• Promote Carrier value proposition linking customer objectives to Carrier solutions
• Manage complex multi service solutions proposals
• Utilize CRM to manage customer interactions, activities and opportunity pipeline
• Demonstrate well developed sales skills to include expert awareness, commercial acumen and integrity
• Seek out and access new Modernization opportunities both with existing customers and new prospect customers
• Establish and build credibility
• Develop and sustain customer relationships
• Create compelling presentations and communicate effectively
• Detect the Customer’s buying stage and adjust selling accordingly
• Manage multiple activities all occurring at the same time, organize others and workflow to meet objectives on time
• Anticipate future trends accurately
• Adapts quickly in face pace environment to gain the order/booking in a timely manner
• Consistently achieve sales metrics and annual targets
• Create high quality timely estimates, bids & proposals including detailed cost benefit analysis to support client's business case for investment.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of commercial HVAC sales experience, commercial HVAC service contractor experience, technical sales, sales engineering, or account management experience in HVAC, building systems, mechanical services, controls, or energy services.
• Ability to lift/carry 20 lbs., climb ladders/stairs, and work safely around rooftops, mechanical rooms, and elevated platforms as required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving requirements, where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert in Sales, HVAC, Building Automation, and/or controls knowledge.
• Experience selling into the BAS/HVAC Controls Industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success selling directly to end-user customers in commercial HVAC, mechanical services, controls, building technologies, facilities, energy services, or related technical environments.
• Experience selling service agreements, planned maintenance, repairs, modernization projects, controls, digital offerings, or lifecycle solutions tied to operational and financial outcomes.
• Ability to create trusted advisor relationships with customers by understanding business objectives, facility priorities, asset conditions, budget drivers, and risk factors.
