We are a full-service plumbing, mechanical, HVAC service, controls, and design-build company.

Primary Purpose of this position:

Service, maintain and repair most commercial HVAC systems.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes
  • With the necessary service literature, has the technical expertise to service, perform maintenance on, and repair most:
    • DX equipment up to 100 tons
    • Packaged, water-cooled AC units up to 100 tons
    • Water-source heat pumps and associated equipment
    • Computer-room-type units with self-contained humidifiers and controls
    • Gas-fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 100 tons
    • Pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems
    • Air-handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems
    • Basic maintenance on atmospheric gas-fired hot-water boilers
  • Performs general maintenance on chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems and associated equipment
  • Has the technical expertise to service, perform maintenance on, and repair most:
    • Direct expansion AC equipment up to 5 tons
    • Most gas-fired and electric heating systems typically found in systems up to 5 tons
    • Low voltage (24-volt or 1- to 10-volt) temperature-control systems generally associated with HVAC equipment
    • Air-handling equipment and duct systems associated with the commercial HVAC equipment
  • Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges, and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system
  • Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment accurately, bringing questionable situations with equipment or customers to the immediate supervisor’s attention
  • Contacts base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all times as to the job status
  • Checks in at the end of the day and gets next day job assignment before leaving for the day
  • Changes air filters
  • Cleans condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork
  • Inspects, adjusts, and replaces fan belts on motors
  • Lubricates bearings on fan shafts and motors
  • Drills holes and installs mounting brackets and hangers into floors and walls of buildings
  • Lifts, hoists, and aligns components into position
  • Inspects screws, bolts, rivets, welds; brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes
  • Installs wiring to connect components to electric power source
  • Assists more senior service technicians as instructed by supervisor
  • Must submit labor hours worked & work description daily in Tech Tool
  • Must complete Daily Safety Report in XOI daily.
  • Must complete work orders with work descriptions daily in Tech Tool.
  • Must submit credit card receipts to Service Coordinator at time of purchase.
  • Communicate with customers daily.
  • Submit time and material quotes to the office before leaving customers location
  • Order parts with RBI purchase order for repairs before leaving customers location

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications

  • Must be a high school graduate and/or have GED
  • Must be a trade school graduate and 2-5+ years related experience
  • Must hold a Universal Refrigerant Cad
  • Must possess and/or be actively obtaining WV or VA tradesman certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required as a minimum, additional training may be required

  • Must be able to adjust focus for reading screens, monitors and controls and have color vision
  • Broad knowledge of larger commercial HVAC equipment
  • Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to change, effectively work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Consistently work with team to provide solutions and meet customer needs
  • Consistently display a positive and cooperative attitude and represent the company in a professional manner
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times
  • Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude
  • Ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays
  • Ability to work 8-to-10-hour days, flexible schedule, and overtime when necessary
  • Participate in training and educational opportunities as offered or required by the company
  • Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening
  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driver qualification policy preferred
