Job Description
ABM is seeking a Commercial HVAC Service Manager to lead HVAC service and installation operations across commercial accounts. This role is responsible for overseeing field technicians and office support staff while working closely with dispatch and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
The Commercial HVAC Service Manager serves as a key representative of ABM, maintaining direct communication with customers, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure work is completed safely, profitably, and in alignment with customer expectations.

Essential Functions
- Lead, manage, and develop field technicians and office staff, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
- Plan, schedule, and support field operations to meet service demands and customer expectations.
- Partner with dispatch to optimize technician utilization based on skill level, efficiency, availability, and development needs.
- Evaluate work quality and provide ongoing feedback to improve performance, productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Review and approve weekly payroll for technicians and non-exempt staff.
- Establish and maintain training programs to ensure technicians remain current on equipment, safety requirements, and industry best practices.
- Oversee service and installation work to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and profitably.
- Coordinate equipment and material procurement to support project timelines and service requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for vendors regarding warranties, recalls, and product-related issues.
- Develop and manage department budgets, goals, performance metrics, and operational objectives.
- Conduct service order audits and review billing to support accurate invoicing and timely cash flow.
- Collaborate regularly with dispatch and operations teams regarding job status, labor usage, material usage, and customer needs.
- Oversee fleet operations to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and used in accordance with company standards.
- Manage complex installations, start-ups, and commissioning projects, including oversight of subcontractors as needed.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to achieve broader organizational goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient and effective operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of HVAC management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Post-secondary education preferred, including trade school, college, technical training, or military training.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and control systems.
- Working knowledge of local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proven leadership ability with a track record of improving team performance, productivity, and service quality.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as general business systems.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, employee development, and operational excellence.
- Professional presence with a strong focus on quality, accountability, and pride in workmanship.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing HVAC service operations across multiple commercial accounts or locations.
- Experience overseeing HVAC installation, start-up, commissioning, and subcontractor coordination.
- Prior experience managing budgets, labor productivity, billing review, service audits, and department performance metrics.
- Familiarity with dispatch coordination, technician scheduling, fleet management, and service work order processes.
