Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
As Commercial Director, you will be accountable for the commercial performance and strategic growth of DFDS Logistics across Immingham and the Midlands region. Leading a dedicated sales team, you will develop and execute the regional commercial strategy, driving sustainable revenue growth, margin improvement, and long-term customer retention across road, trailer, multimodal, and integrated logistics services.
As a key member of the UK Leadership Team, you will provide strategic direction to commercial and business development activities, build executive-level customer relationships, and work closely with operations, finance, customer service, and international DFDS business units to deliver profitable growth.
You will be responsible for:
Developing and delivering the regional commercial strategy to achieve revenue growth, margin improvement, and customer retention targets
Identifying new market opportunities and expanding DFDS' presence across manufacturing, retail, automotive, industrial, and FMCG sectors
Building and maintaining strategic relationships with key customers, securing and retaining high-value contracts
Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing commercial team while driving performance against agreed KPIs
Working collaboratively with operational and support functions to ensure commercial commitments align with operational capability
Driving business development initiatives across UK, Nordic, and Northern European logistics markets
Providing commercial leadership, forecasting, and strategic insight to support business growth and long-term success
About you
You'll bring significant senior commercial leadership experience gained within the logistics, transport, or supply chain sector, with a proven track record of delivering business growth and leading successful sales organisations. You will have extensive experience managing strategic customer portfolios and securing multi-million-pound contracts while maintaining strong commercial discipline.
A strong understanding of European road freight, trailer operations, and multimodal logistics is essential, alongside excellent financial and commercial acumen. You'll be confident influencing senior stakeholders and executive leadership teams, combining strategic vision with a hands-on approach to customer engagement and business development.
You'll thrive in this role if you're a commercially driven leader who can inspire teams, build trusted customer relationships, and identify opportunities for growth in competitive markets. Strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions will be key to your success.
Experience selling trailer and logistics solutions into Nordic markets would be advantageous. An understanding of customs and export processes in a post-Brexit environment would also be beneficial, along with familiarity with specialist cargo logistics and complex transport solutions. While these are not essential requirements, they would support your ability to identify opportunities and drive commercial growth across the DFDS network.
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
