Sunflower Bank, N.A. is currently searching for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Commercial Credit Analyst in Houston, TX.

The Commercial Credit Analyst will support Commercial Credit Underwriters in every aspect of the latter’s day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with financial analysis and risk assessment by preparing financial statement spreads, analyzing trends, and supporting credit underwriting decisions.
  • Support Credit Underwriters in the preparation of credit memoranda for amendments, waivers, annual reviews, and other requests.
  • Develop proficiency in systems and tools used by the credit team, including spreading software, financial modeling tools, and credit approval platforms.
  • Build a foundational understanding of the bank’s credit policies, underwriting standards, and risk metrics, and apply them in daily activities.
  • Acquire a basic understanding of the bank’s metrics and conditions for extending credit by applying that understanding on a daily basis.
  • Develop the ability to monitor borrower financial performance and track compliance with loan covenants and borrowing base requirements.
  • Conduct industry research and prepare overviews highlighting trends and conditions impacting clients and prospects.
  • Become familiar with loan documentation and capable of producing summaries of important loan conditions and collateral structures.
  • Gain an understanding of the Bank’s ancillary products important to building the bank’s relationship with its commercial/corporate clients and assist and collaborate with internal partners to support cross-sell opportunities.

Education / Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other applicable undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • 1+ years in commercial lending and credit analysis.
  • Must possess excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills, specifically Word/Excel.
  • Must possess aptitude for learning new systems and applications quickly, specifically Salesforce.com and nCino Bank Operating System.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess ability to prioritize and complete tasks or projects on time with a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to remain educated and informed on industry trends, market conditions and regulatory requirements and actively work to continuously develop professionally.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must possess ability to understand financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Travel will be required, as needed.

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.

Working Conditions

The physical demands of this position require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Regular walking may be required, along with occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing. The role may involve lifting or moving items weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
