The Opportunity:

KBR is seeking an experienced Commercial Specialist to support the Factory Operations & Sustainment Directorate within the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Manufacturing Division.

This role plays a key part in supporting the safe and ongoing operation of Australia's Explosive Ordnance manufacturing factories in Benalla, Victoria and Mulwala, New South Wales. Working within the Commercial line of effort, you will provide specialist commercial, procurement, and contract management support across a range of strategic initiatives, including future planning activities, governance, stakeholder engagement, and complex acquisition programs.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant Defence capability outcomes while working within a dynamic and evolving manufacturing and sustainment environment.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity and can be based in Canberra or Melbourne.

The successful candidate must hold a NV1 security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial, procurement, and contract management support for Defence programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the planning and delivery of complex procurement activities, including procurement strategies, tender documentation, evaluation processes, approvals, and governance requirements.
  • Assist with the management of ASDEFCON contracts, including contract variations, deliverables, performance monitoring, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contribute to future planning activities, reviews, and reform initiatives to support ongoing program delivery and operational objectives.
  • Provide specialist commercial and financial advice to stakeholders and delegates.
  • Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risks.
  • Prepare briefs, approval submissions, reports, and other governance documentation.
  • Participate in contract meetings, workshops, and stakeholder forums as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence procurement policies, frameworks, and commercial governance requirements.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Extensive experience working within the Defence environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in Defence procurement, commercial management, and contract administration.
  • Strong understanding of contracts, deeds, indemnities, contractual obligations, and variation management.
  • Experience supporting governance activities, including preparation of meeting materials, documentation control, registers, and quality assurance processes.
  • Well-developed analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Australian Citizenship and current NV1 Defence Security Clearance or higher.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting complex Defence projects or programs.
  • Knowledge of ASDEFCON contracting frameworks.
  • Understanding of Defence writing standards and internal Defence processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within demanding timeframes.
  • Experience preparing high-quality briefs, approvals, and stakeholder communications for senior Defence personnel.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance.
