Petstock Group is expanding its team and is seeking a Commercial Business Partner to deliver sharp commercial insight, provide constructive challenge and translate financial data into clear, practical guidance for the business
Partnering with senior leaders across retail, trading and supply chain you will drive commercial performance, informed decision making and sustainable growth across our Retail business.
Your Impact in this role:
Act as a trusted finance partner to the retail business, supporting both short-term performance and long-term strategy.
Play a key role (leading or supporting as required) in retail forecasting and budgeting, ensuring clear linkage between business results and strategic retail initiatives.
Develop clear, actionable insights key insights into variances across forecasts, budgets and actual performance.
Support strategic retail initiatives including pricing, promotion, margin improvement, cost optimisation, growth opportunities and capital investment.
Provide detailed margin analytics, including gross margin rate and gross profit dollars by category, channel, and store cohort, and identify “margin pool” opportunities to improve profitability.
Partner with Trading/Pricing to evaluate pricing, promotions, and markdown effectiveness (ROI and incrementality), including cannibalisation/halo impacts, and translate learnings into actionable recommendations.
Partner with leaders to develop and assess retail business cases and initiatives ensuring robust assumptions and clear value drivers.
Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable commercial recommendations
Influence and challenge stakeholders constructively to support commercial trade‑offs.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
Proven experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or business partnering roles, ideally within retail, consumer, or fast‑paced, multi‑site environments
Strong financial acumen, including end‑to‑end P&L ownership, forecasting, performance analysis, and business case development
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability, with experience using Power BI or similar analytics and reporting tools highly regarded
Well‑developed influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear commercial insights and practical recommendations
Confidence working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to constructively challenge assumptions and drive commercially focused decision‑making
A commercially curious, solutions‑oriented mindset, comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, underpinned by high levels of accountability, integrity, and resilience
This is a hands-on commercial role where your analysis will not sit on a slide deck — it will directly shape decisions and outcomes across a growing retail business.
