Job Description

Fusion, the process that powers the sun and stars, is one of the most promising options for generating the cleaner, carbon-free energy that our world badly needs. Our goal is to bring fusion electricity to the grid by developing the power stations of tomorrow and the skilled workforce to deliver them.

The Commercial Assistant supports the Commercial team in delivering services to the business, ensuring compliance with UKAEA and DESNZ procedures and processes. Working within a team of around 50, the role provides advice, guidance, and support to users, while monitoring departmental compliance with internal procedures, DESNZ requirements, and Cabinet Office standards.

Core responsibilities

  • Purchase goods and services in accordance with UKAEA Procurement procedures
  • Ensure compliance with PCR regulations when supporting procurements conducted under these regulations
  • Support Commercial Managers in maintaining supplier relationships
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance on procurement procedures
  • Use the Procurement module within the U4BW (Agresso) system
  • Collate and prepare internal and external procurement reports
  • Promote procurement policies, processes, and systems
  • Support Commercial Managers in advising Project Managers on UKAEA commercial processes
  • Support the Commercial team in activities through the use of EU Supply

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths and English Language
  • Understanding of public sector procurement principles
  • High attention to detail and effective time management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with solid administrative experience
  • Ability to analyse and report on numerical data accurately
  • Collaborative team player, adaptable to varied situations
  • Able to use commercial information to support purchasing decisions
