King County’s Department of Assessments is looking for a dynamic and collaborative commercial appraiser to support the daily administration of the County’s commercial property valuation for tax-assessment purposes. We are looking for action oriented creative thinkers who can multi-task and bring their property appraisal skills and desire for excellence to this role. This position will focus on commercial property valuation and customer service and support to help the department achieve its commitment to be "The Best Assessments Department in North America".
ABOUT THE ROLE: This position serves a vital role in meeting our mission of setting fair and equitable property values, the primary service we provide to taxpayers. This role involves daily interaction with staff and the public, requiring collaborative skills, a strong grounding in commercial property assessment, excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to work in a culturally and generationally diverse team-oriented environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY: The department uses a mass appraisal process, which is the use of standardized procedures and mathematical calculations for collecting and appraising property to ensure that all properties within a municipality are valued uniformly and equitably. We are searching for a commercial/residential appraisal professional with strong customer service skills and commercial/residential appraisal knowledge who is looking to join our team of appraisal professionals.

WORK SCHEDULE: The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Friday, 8.75 hours per day, 35 hours per week.
WORK LOCATION: Work will primarily be performed at 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle, WA 98104, including hybrid work, support for field/site inspections, and remote work.
