Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst in Pharmaceutical Commercial Analytics to translate complex pharmaceutical data into actionable business insights. The individual will work at the intersection of pharmaceutical/healthcare business, commercial analytics, data, and technology, partnering with commercial, marketing, sales, market research, forecasting, finance, and analytics teams. The role requires strong understanding of pharmaceutical/healthcare commercial processes and the ability to synthesize multiple data sources, identify business implications, develop insightful analyses, prepare dashboards and communicate recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst in Pharmaceutical Commercial Analytics to translate complex pharmaceutical data into actionable business insights.

The individual will work at the intersection of pharmaceutical/healthcare business, commercial analytics, data, and technology, partnering with commercial, marketing, sales, market research, forecasting, finance, and analytics teams.

The role requires strong understanding of pharmaceutical/healthcare commercial processes and the ability to synthesize multiple data sources, identify business implications, develop insightful analyses, prepare dashboards and communicate recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Pharmaceutical Domain Knowledge:

  • Develop and demonstrate strong understanding of the pharmaceutical/healthcare commercial ecosystem, viz., Market dynamics & competitive landscape, Brand performance, Patient & physician dynamics, Sales & promotion effectiveness, Market access & reimbursement, Patient journeys, New product launches & lifecycle management, Forecasting & demand planning, Market share & market growth and Customer segmentation & targeting
  • Understand pharmaceutical commercial data sources such as: IQVIA, HCP data, CRM data, Market Research Data, Competitive Intelligence, etc
  • High level understanding of macroeconomic factors such as GDP, PPP, Disposable income, Healthcare expenditure etc., that influence affordability, health outcomes and market dynamics
  • Translate pharmaceutical business questions into analytical requirements and structured problem statements

Data Synthesis:

  • Integrate and synthesize information from multiple internal and external data sources to create a holistic view of business performance
  • Convert complex and fragmented data into clear business narratives and actionable insights
  • Identify relationships, trends, inconsistencies, and gaps across datasets
  • Develop structured analytical datasets and business-ready views

Business Acumen:

  • Understand the strategic objectives and commercial priorities of pharmaceutical businesses
  • Demonstrate the ability to move beyond "what happened?" to answer: Why did it happen? What does it mean for the business? What should the business consider doing next?
  • Challenge assumptions and analytical approaches where appropriate
  • Understand the commercial implications of changes in: Market dynamics, Competitor activity, Pricing, Customer behavior, Promotional strategy, Product lifecycle, etc
  • Develop hypotheses and analytical approaches based on business context
  • Participate in strategic business discussions and provide data-driven perspectives

Analytics Delivery & Collaboration:

  • Own strategic insights delivery leadership by proactively designing and developing analytical solutions and managing reporting activities to provide enhanced business insights to clients
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across functions and understand business requirements on regular basis

Technology & Visualization:

  • Hands-on experience with BI, analytics tools and advanced Excel
  • AI augmentation

Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of Pharmaceutical/Healthcare Domain and Commercial Analytics
  • Advanced competency in Data Synthesis, Analytical Thinking, Problem Solving, Business Acumen, Stakeholder Management, Collaboration, Data Storytelling, Excel and PowerBI
  • Apply structured analytical techniques to identify drivers, trends, correlations, opportunities and risks, and translate findings into actionable business insights
  • Develop business narratives and communicate insights effectively to senior stakeholders through presentations, dashboards and discussions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pharmacy / Life Sciences
  • 7–8 years of relevant professional experience with global pharma/healthcare clients - ability to independently own analytical workstreams, engage with senior stakeholders, and drive insights from business question through analysis to recommendation
  • Strong experience in pharmaceutical commercial analytics / business insights / consulting
  • Experience of working with pharmaceutical commercial datasets
