Job Description

At H&M, our New Development function is dedicated to strengthening the brand, driving innovation and exploring new opportunities for growth. Within this function, the Commercial Advisor Licensing plays a key role in supporting and driving our licensing business in close alignment with our brand direction and commercial goals. You will work closely with the Partnerships Manager, Customer Groups and cross‑functional teams to develop, manage and grow long‑term licensing partnerships.

This is a business‑driven role at the intersection of brand, strategy and execution – ideal for someone who combines strong commercial judgement with cultural and fashion awareness.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategy & Commercial Insight

  • Support the development and implementation of the licensing strategy across the company (H&M brand and Group brands), aligned with the overall brand direction.
  • Work with Customer Group managers to understand business needs and identify licensing opportunities.
  • Contribute to the planning and follow-up of licensing goals and key initiatives.

Partnership Development

  • Assist in identifying, pitching, and onboarding new licensing partners.
  • Support in managing ongoing partner relationships to ensure alignment with brand, commercial, and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and licensing partners to ensure smooth operations.

Internal Collaboration & Process

  • Act as a key point of contact for internal teams regarding licensing processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Help coordinate trainings and internal communications to ensure consistent ways of working with external partners.
  • Support the evaluation of potential partners in collaboration with H&M Group IP Legal, Product Policy, and Customer Group Managers.

Commercial & Operational Support

  • Contribute to contract preparation and support negotiations
  • Monitor and follow up on partner performance, sales, and commercial terms.
  • Support with financial tracking, compliance, labelling, and sustainability aspects related to licensing agreements.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be part of the External Partnerships team within New Development, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across design, marketing, legal and more. You will report to the External Partnerships and New Project Manager.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for a person who has the ability to seamlessly drive projects forward and confidently manage cross functional stakeholders, both internally and externally, sometimes navigating change and complex structures. You know how to influence and how to turn ideas into commercially sound outcomes, combining an entrepreneurial mindset with a sharp eye for new opportunities for growth.

We also see that you are a great team player and have a passion for fashion and culture, always ahead of the game. Besides your personality we see that you have:

  • 5+ years of experience from a similar role or related field
  • Excellent negotiation skills and extensive experience negotiating with senior management level
  • Strong communication skills and relationship building skills
  • Excellent project management skills and experience from leading brand building partnerships
  • Contract negotiations and contract management skills, having worked with a variety of deal structures and contractual set-ups
  • A network of contacts from related fields is a plus and a good knowledge or experience of the licensing industry is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment – able to adapt quickly, stay flexible, and thrive even when priorities shift or plans change
