Job Description

The Comin Up Fleet/Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting teen members to and from the Club, as well as to program-related activities and events. This role ensures the safety, supervision, and well-being of youth during transit while maintaining a positive and respectful environment. The driver is also responsible for conducting routine vehicle inspections, adhering to all traffic laws and organizational policies, and supporting overall program operations as needed. This position plays a key role in providing reliable access to Club programs and creating a safe, welcoming experience for teens.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Driving:

  • Accountable for operating a vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
  • Accountable for daily checks of the vehicle for safe operation and vehicle maintenance, such as filling the gas tank and cleaning the exterior and interior
  • Accountable for timeliness and following the assigned route

Vehicle Safety:

  • Accountable for safety while operating the vehicle
  • Accountable for adherence to all organizational health and safety policies and implementation of all safety practices and procedures at assigned work location(s)
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect members, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities. Abide by facility maintenance protocols and procedures to ensure compliance
  • Accountable for reporting incidents and completing documentation within the required timeline
  • Maintain discipline, de-escalate conflict between members and/or others
  • Obtain and renew CPR and First Aid certification by the deadline

Administrative Compliance:

  • Complete all required reports and administrative duties on time.
  • Collect and manage required data and internal and external reporting. Ensure accuracy of data and reporting. Ensure the effective completion of all assessment and measurement activities of programs
  • Comply with all administrative policies and procedures, processes, and controls
  • Accountable for accurate and timely paperwork, reports, and data entry
  • Accountable for utilizing all BGCGTC communication tools regularly and effectively

Relationships:

  • Be a positive role model
  • Maintain emotional control and make good decisions under pressure
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club in a positive manner

Attendance:

  • Regular attendance is required; arrive on time, work required hours/shift, and leave at the scheduled time

NONESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with youth (professional or volunteer)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work afternoon and evening hours (Typical hours 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Monday - Friday)
  • Ability to be a positive role model
  • Ability to be patient
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screens at any time
  • The position requires driving a company vehicle. Candidates must have a satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under the company insurance The requirement is for employees to be a minimum of age 21.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual
  • CDL
  • Experience driving mid to large-sized vehicles such as a 15-passenger bus
  • Work experience with or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club Movement (national and/or local Club) is an advantage

SALARY:

  • CDL: $22.00 per hour
  • Non-CDL: $14.05 per hour
