Coloplast R&D/Center of Excellence / engineering analysis
Engineering analysis in a fast-paced environment can be challenging, as evolving requirements and design changes often make updates reactive rather than proactive.
This project addresses how to transform these challenges into opportunities by exploring and prototyping AI-supported workflows. The goal is to integrate and synchronize various engineering tools and data sources such as CAD (SolidWorks), Polarion for requirement management, manufacturing capability data, tolerance chains, and test results.
By leveraging AI to connect and analyze these fragmented data sets, the project aims to surface critical insights that support more informed design decisions and reduce project complexity. Ultimately, you will contribute to developing an initial concept for an integrated tool that enhances transparency and overview in complex projects, paving the way for data-driven engineering decisions aligned with robust design, manufacturability, and validation practices.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of AI and engineering, directly impacting the efficiency and precision of Coloplast’s design processes.
We are looking for students with a foundation in Mechanical Engineering, complemented by hands-on experience in SolidWorks for effective CAD modeling and integration. Candidates should demonstrate robust statistical analysis skills - particularly in evaluating tolerance chains and test data using tools like SAS JMP. Additionally, familiarity with AI tools, such as Copilot, will support the integration of innovative AI approaches into established engineering processes.
Your project will be guided by Niels Peter Emme, Senior Principal of Robust Design, Engineering Analysis at Coloplast. With his expertise, you will have direct mentorship and support as you navigate this innovative approach to integrating AI into engineering workflows. Coloplast develops products and services to make life easier for people with deeply personal and private medical conditions. These conditions are often associated with trauma and taboo. The more intimate the condition, the greater the requirement to come closer to customers, understand their world and develop solutions that are sensitive to their special needs. We call this intimate healthcare.
Closeness to all customers makes this possible. We listen to better understand needs and respond by finding new ways to do things better together. We lead the way by bringing the best ideas first and fast to market in the form of medical devices and service solutions.
Deeply private and personal medical conditions are our focus. Our passion to make a real difference to people’s lives is what drives and unites us. Our culture supports high ambitions and releases the full potential of our own people to achieve them.
Our business includes Ostomy Care, Continence Care, Advanced Wound Care, Interventional Urology and Voice & Respiratory Care. We operate globally, employing more than 16,500 people.
