Job Description

The Section of Surgical Sciences, Division of General Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a surgeon, at the level of assistant or associate professor, to join our Colon and Rectal Surgery Program. The new surgeon will join our group of 7 colorectal surgeons and 4 advanced practice providers.

Our program is committed to excellence in patient care, service, quality, and innovation. The new position will expand our colorectal practice and include the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville as well as participating in our satellite clinic spaces located around Nashville. In this role, a successful candidate should be able to care for the entire spectrum of colon and rectal diseases. Additional responsibilities include educating general surgery residents and medical students from Vanderbilt University Medical School, outreach to community physicians, and pursuing scholarly activity.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess an M.D. and be Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

The ideal candidate should have outstanding clinical experience, possess strong communication and collaboration skills. Applicants should have a strong record across research, education, and ongoing quality/performance improvement. This position will require travel to our associated institutions to develop and cover trauma care as we are committed to developing care across middle Tennessee. Academic rank, tenure and additional leadership opportunities are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
